I'm very interested to know what software did you for this artwork. I'm a PS user, myself, but always having hard times to achieve any level of natural looking textures, such like I see in this and in many of your pieces.
Our styles are very (if not 'diametrically' ) different, but even so I do feel I can learn from your work, observing all the details and the ways you composed them.
I did all the image in photoshop. I used some stock textures to start the sky and to help create the fire effect. Everything is done the old way
I think the most important to create an interesting texture is to really think about the way light will bounce on the material you are creating. Everything start with the light! Hope it helps !
